Reception Emergency Procedures - Fire If someone reports a fire you should get a manager/designate to investigate When the fire alarm is set off a fire panel, usually in Reception, will show where the alarm has been set off. Send someone to investigate
The manager will tell you to ring the fire brigade Ring 999, and say…….. “This is (name and address of the hotel” “I am reporting a fire in our (location of fire if you know where it is)” They may want your telephone number too.
Use the Public Address System to ask guests and staff to evacuate the hotel You could say ….. “This is not a drill. Would all guests please make their way to the fire assembly point in the car park. Please do not return to your room for your belongings”
Evacuating Reception One receptionist will man the switchboard, answering internal calls only. Tell guests and staff phoning that “this is not a practice, please evacuate the hotel immediately” This person will not leave reception until advised by the manager/fire officer
Other Reception Staff will need to … print off Emergency Reports showing who is in the hotel and what rooms they are in. These will be passed to a fire marshall or fire officer lock up the cash in the Hotel Safe along with back-up tapes for the computer system assist customers with evacuating the hotel …before evacuating themselves
