MISSOURI COMPROMISE Missouri Compromise Henry Clay came up with a solution: Missouri Compromise, Maine would be admitted as a free state 2.Missouri would be admitted as a slave state 3.Congress drew an imaginary line at the Southern border of Missouri (36’30’’ latitude) and there could be no slavery above that line in the rest of the Louisiana Territory ONLY
