Most colleges and universities consider two things for admission:  GPA  Test Scores Selective schools also consider:  Academic Rigor  Recommendation Letters  Extracurricular Activities  Community Service

Freshman Index (“FI”) is a combination of a student’s SAT or ACT scores and high school grade point average. FI = 500 x (HSGPA) + SAT Critical Reading + Math (or) FI = 500 x (HSGPA) + (ACT Composite x 42) + 88 Minimum FI for admission to: Research university is 2500  UGA, GT, GRU, GSU Regional university is 2040  Kennesaw, GA Southern, U of West GA, Valdosta State State university is 1940  Albany State, Armstrong State, Fort Valley, Savannah State, UNG, etc. State or two-year college is 1830  ABAC, GA Gwinnett College, Gordon State, etc. Example: 2.3 x 880 SAT = 2024 Minimum for 4 year colleges in GA  SAT Critical Reading: 430  SAT Math: 400  ACT English: 17  ACT Math: 17 * Students without these minimum scores but with SAT scores of at least 330 CR and 310 Math may be considered for admission to a two-year college, but will be required to exempt or exit Learning Support in the areas of deficiency. * Institutions may set higher requirements for admission. Students meeting the minimum FI requirements are not guaranteed admission.

First-Year Admitted Student Profile  Applications received: 22, 225  Admission Offers: 11,602  New First-Year Enrolled: 5,300  Core GPA:  SAT (CR+M+W):  ACT:  AP/IB courses: 4-8 The average Clarke Central Student who got in to UGA last year had a 90 average, had taken 5+ AP courses and had 500+ on SAT

 Early Action (non-binding) application is due October 15 and students will receive an admission decision by December 15.  Regular Decision application is due January 15 and students will receive a decision by April 15.  Apply now! You must submit your application on-line before the counselor and teacher can submit evaluation forms. Official transcript and SAT or ACT scores are also required.

US Government provides 75% of all $ for college  Grants: Pell, HOPE, etc  Work Study  Loans  Private Scholarships  There are hundreds of thousands of them.  APPLY, APPLY, APPLY!  Apply directly to your college for institutional financial aid  AP credits/MOWR  Standard class: 3 hours  Freshman year: 30 hours  Private Pay

 Start your search early & be patient  Make sure you qualify for it  Start local  Be aware of the competition  Write a great essay  Be prepared to interview  Be yourself 5 hours research, writing essay, applying = $500 5 hours work at $7.50/hr = $ tax

 HOPE Scholarship  3.0 GPA in all academics  3 Rigorous course minimum  Zell Miller  3.7 GPA  ACT = 26 composite OR  SAT = 1200 (CR+Math)  3 Rigorous course minimum  HOPE Grant GPA Scale: A = 4.0 B = 3.0 C = 2.0 F = 0.0 Check your HOPE average today at GACollege411.0rg
