Spot Welding
Spot Welding Spot welding is principally used as a method of joining sheet steel. The process is used extensively in the Automobile industry where the spot welding process can be automated with the aid of robots. Spot welding can be undertaken in the school workshop (on a much smaller scale) as follows.
Spot Welding Stage 1: The two pieces to be joined must be cleaned thoroughly, rust, paint, grease etc must be removed. Use a piece of emery cloth to clean the metal.

Spot Welding Stage 3: Clamp the two pieces together in the welder
Spot Welding Stage 4: Squeeze the handle down until it hits to On /Off switch. Hold the handle here until the weld cycle is complete (Remember when removing the metal, always wear heatproof gloves)
Spot Welding Stage 5: Repeat this process for a second weld if necessary
Spot Welding Stage 6: Allow weld to cool
