Student Code of Conduct Revision Presentation to AGC (3 of 3) April 8, 2014

Feedback from AGC – Student Rights Section  Add “responsible to learn material” language back into the code  Discussion about “reasoned exception” being vague/undefined – left as is to match faculty contract language  Final statement: “In the classroom, students are free to take reasoned exception to the data or views offered and to reserve judgment about matters of opinion, but they are responsible for learning the content of the course.”

Process Question  Questions about what happens when the Code goes to Cabinet  Code review is a collaborative process and they will receive the same information that AGC received  AGC has decision making authority over the academic components, Cabinet has purview over the rest  Provost/Deans are representatives of the voice of AGC at Cabinet and can support the decisions made by AGC if questioned
