By laws are the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene and the local church cannot alter them. Property is automatically given to the district if the church decides to change denominations. Property is purchased by the board with approval of the membership.

BASIC CHARACTERISTICS OF A Non Profit BOARD The chairperson is elected by the Board according to the by laws Leadership can be a layperson or clergy Board members are elected according to the by laws and often serve for several years. Program heads are usually paid staff and are not on the board. Finances come from donations, grants, and programs Casual ties to the district and general church.
