Gobble ‘til you Wobble! Today’s Task: Determine actual cost of recipes using unit pricing!!!

What is Unit Pricing? The actual cost of the ingredients that you are going to USE in the recipe … For instance If the container holds 2 cups but you only need to use 1 cup of that ingredient You would Divide the cost of that item in half If the container cost $2, you would have used $1 worth in your recipe

Additional Example – 1 Check the packaging to determine its size. Bags of sugar are sold by the pound, for example. If a 4 lb. bag of sugar costs $3.20, you can easily calculate its unit pricing. – 2 Divide $3.20 (the price of the sugar) by 4 (the unit, in pounds). The unit pricing is 80 cents per pound. – If there were 4 cups in a pound and you only needed 1 cup, the sugar would cost you 20 cents for that recipe Read more: How to Calculate Unit Pricing for Groceries | eHow.com unit-pricing.html#ixzz1di6FkBev (adapted)How to Calculate Unit Pricing for Groceries | eHow.comhttp:// unit-pricing.html#ixzz1di6FkBev

First things first… If you did not finish gathering your prices yesterday, then do that now….make sure to note the packaging sizes ( ounces, pounds, cups, etc) you will need that information to determine your unit price! The best websites to complete this task are:

Now for some practice (No Whining Now!!) Pull out your measurement equivalent sheet form earlier in the block for a reference Using the information provided by your teacher, determine the cost of the ingredients on your thanksgiving menu What was the ACTUAL final cost of your Thanksgiving Meal?
