Tutorial:Business Academy Topic:Working with the Text in a Presentation Prepared by: Ing. Jiří Durďák Projekt Anglicky v odborných předmětech, CZ.1.07/1.3.09/ je spolufinancován Evropským sociálním fondem a státním rozpočtem České republiky.

Creating professional presentations is enhanced by a wide range of options for text formatting, including text wrapping in fields, in columns, or creating a text that flows vertically down along the frame. More options are also offered by new styles of the characters. In addition to all the standard styles of previous versions, there are also available all uppercase letters or small caps, strikethrough or double strikethrough, and double or colour underline. You can add fills, lines, shadows, glow, set spacing between characters and choose a three-dimensional effects.

The appearance of the font can be set in several ways:  Change the format of the font during writing. The following text will be entered with the used changes.  Indicate a part of the text in the text window. The set format will be applied in the selected text  Indicate the entire text window as the object. The set format will be applied in the entire object. The font parameter setting can be made in some of these ways:  Use the buttons in the Font group on the Home tab.  Use the minifield with buttons for formatting the text. It will appear after the right-click.  For more options, click the broad white square in the lower right corner of the Font group.

 Write a text into the document.  Using the ways described above, select either a part of the text, or the entire text.  Use the card Home.  In the Font group, click the arrow next to the Font.  Review each item – do not click immediately on the particular type (using the dynamic preview).  Select the desired font and click on it.

Probably, we all intuitively know what a paragraph is. We could define it as a piece of text given by a double press of the Enter key, or as part of the text marked by three clicks to the text. A paragraph can be set in two ways:  Indicate the text window as a whole.  Select one or more paragraphs of the text window.

For paragraph formatting there are these ways available:  The buttons in the Paragraph group.  The dialog box for setting the paragraph (broad white cross in the lower right corner of the group Paragraph).  The miniboard with buttons for formatting paragraphs. It appears after the right-click.

 The default alignment is to the left.  Other options for the alignment of the text box is to the right and centered, and justified.  We set the alignment in the paragraph or on the miniboard.  The text in the text field can be also aligned vertically.  The text in the text field can be oriented in several ways: horizontally, rotated by 90 °, rotated by 270 °, above, and more.

 You can set spacing between lines within a paragraph by the button with the arrow keys up and down.  You can also use the properties of the paragraph.

 You can use click Bullets and Numbering.  Select one of the buttons.  If you require a different indent, use the Custom button or Picture.  Use the similar method for numbering.

 The symbols are in the same group of commands and work with them is very simple – compared to equations. Usually, we use the command symbols in case we cannot find the character directly on the keyboard.  Move to the Insert tab.  Click on the Symbol command.  Select Other symbols.

1. Demonstrate and describe the procedure for font formatting. 2. Demonstrate and describe the process for formatting paragraphs. 3. Create a simple study support for Bullets and Numbering. Use Word to create the text. Write the text in English.
