La Conquistadores Amaya Barclay and Courtney Jenkinson Historians

Expedition Our expedition from King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella is to travel and find information on the notorious conquistadores. We wrote a message to the queen and she replied writing this:

Dear Amaya and Courtney February 8 th 1550 We have accepted your expedition on some grounds. You must answer these questions and be out by the 15 th of April Who are the conquistadores? What is their background? Who did they conquer? What was their purpose? Why did they conquer? Was there a reason to conquer at this time? Where did they conquer? How did it affect the other peoples? Was there a reason for them to conquer that region?

March 28 th 1550 Who are the conquistadores? The conquistadores are Spanish soldiers, explorers and adventurers that conquered over America between the 15 th and the 19 th century. Some of the conquistadores are Hernan Cortes, Ponce de Leon - 'el conquistador' Francisco Pizarro, Hernando de Soto, Francisco Vazquez de Coronado

March 29 th 1550 What is the conquistadores background? The Spanish had taken over the Iberian Peninsula from the Muslim Moors after ages of conflict. This was made the ‘reconquista’. The Spanish conquistadores saw their mission to conquer new land as a natural extension of the Medieval Crusades. The Roman Catholic Priests helped the conquistadores because they thought that the Spanish were Christians.

What is the conquistadores background continued? The Roman Catholic Priests helped the conquistadores because they thought that the Spanish were Christians.

March 30 th 1550 Why did they become conquistadores? The Spanish conquered for many reasons. They conquered for wealth which was gold and silver and spices, for power, prestige, building a Spanish Empire, increasing Spanish trade and spreading the Christian religion.

March 31 st 1550 Who did they conquer? They conquered the Aztecs in February 1519, the Incan Empire in 1582, Mexico in 1519, Peru in 1527 and they also migrated to the Americas in 1492, and the Caribbean and Panama also in 1492.

April 1 st 1550 What was their purpose? They conquered for colonization, for wealth with gold, spices, and silver, for power, prestige, to expand the Spanish Trade, building the Spanish Empire also to spread the Christian religion to the natives.

April 2 nd 1550 When did they conquer? They conquered from 1492 to 1580 which is almost a century.

April 3 rd 1550 Was there a reason for them to conquer on that date? Yes because the Spanish empire was increasing and they wanted more land, to be more wealthy by using gold and silver and expensive spices. Since the empire was building, they wanted more resources and slaves to help them build it. They also wanted to spread Christianity. There were also lots of nobles left over from the wars that were not doing any thing so they PTO

were made to help on the conquests with the conquistadores to help them. They also wanted to find the route to India by sea in sought of spices to get back to their homeland with out going through Venus.

April 4 th 1550 Where did they conquer? They conquered in Peru, Mexico, the Americas, the Caribbean and Panama

April 5 th 1550 How did it affect the other people? When the Aztecs were conquered, they became under the command and were being defeated. The Spanish were wiping their race out The Spanish ruled over them and to this day where the Aztec empire was, there is a statue in the town square showing Columbus and not Hernan Cortes. They also made them as slaves and tortured them. And this affected them because it eventually made their race extinct.

Why did they conquer that region? They conquered those types of regions because it was rich with gold, silver and jewellery. It was also good because they had good resources like access to clean water, live stock and the trees and plants were good. This would help their empire greatly as the resources would help them get started building and get started making a new life in a new world.
