Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence What California Has Done to Address Portability of Language Credentials – –Made it easier for teachers with world language credentials from out of state and out of country to obtain a preliminary CA certification. – –Made it easier for teachers with exclusively private school experience to obtain preliminary CA certification.

Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence California Portability, cont.  California will grant a preliminary credential to an out-of-country prepared teacher who: –Holds or is eligible for a comparable teaching credential in another country –Has a B.A. or higher degree based on foreign transcript evaluation –Has completed a teacher preparation program equivalent to a regionally- accredited U.S. institution
