Khmer Rogue Pol Pot Genocide

Background of the genocide or ethnic cleansing The Year Zero began when Pol Pot decided he wanted to cleanse Cambodia of western influences he used methods from Mao Zedongs Great Leap Forward to help in his cause, and during this cleansing millions of foreigners were removed from the country

What was the goal? The goal of this movement was to remove all western influences from Cambodia and create a form of peasant communism.

What was the outcome of this movement? The war ended around the year 1979 and in the end of all the revolts, formation of new ideas, and the death of more than 2 million people Pot was forced to retreat to Thailand to fight against the Cambodians for 17 years in a guerilla war, after which he died from a heart attack at the age of 73
