Ballona Wetlands By: manny Salazar

Info The Ballona Wetlands are located in Southern California, USASouthern CaliforniaUSA The wetlands once included the areas now taken up by Marina del Rey, Venice, and Playa Vista, extending north to about present-day Washington Blvd. in Venice It is one of the last significant wetlands areas in the Los Angeles basin, and is named for Ballona Creek which now runs through the area as a flood control channel.wetlandsLos Angeles basinBallona Creek

What it does In the 1930s the Ballona Creek corridor was channelized in concrete,[2] thus greatly reducing the inflow of salt water to the marsh[2] It eliminates spring floods which brings freshwater to the wetlands

The Community students from Loyola Marymount University’s Seaver College of Science and Engineering have been monitoring the water in the Ballona Wetlands data will be used to assess the levels of organic pollutants in the wetland
