11-5 Solving Radical Equations

Bell Work 1) Solve2x + 7y = -7 5x + 7y = 14 2) You are buying supplies for a party. 3 rolls of streamers and 15 party hats cost $30. Later you bought 2 rolls of streamers and 4 party hats for $11. How much is a party hat? 3) Ms. Jones is having a pizza party for her two classes. She ordered 3 pizzas and 3 bottles of soda for $23.34 for 1 st period. She ordered 4 pizzas and 6 bottles of soda for $32.70 for 2 nd period. How much does each pizza and each bottle of soda cost?

Notes When solving a radical equation, you must isolate the radical and then square each side. If there are two radicals, they need to be on separate sides of the equal sign. Answers need to be checked because it is impossible to take a square root of a negative value.
