By: Noah Royle

 Because of racial discrimination, high cost, and brutalization, the death penalty should be banned

 Two people, one black and one white, go on trial for the death penalty. It is four times more likely for the black suspect to get the death penalty for a similar crime, if not the same.

 Millions are paid for a single execution  Cheaper just to do life in prison without parole

 There are studies that show California spending $250 million per execution in 2005

 Executions cause distress, and are harsh on society.  Doctor’s are forced to do the opposite of what they have sworn to do, which is preserving life.

 De Luna was accused of murder, even though there was no evidence, other than being at the crime scene, to prove he had done anything  Although he was violating parole by drinking, being an eye witness at the time didn’t mean much

 The execution of Clayton Lockett went horribly wrong in 1999 in Oklahoma  Lasted 43 minutes and Lockett died from an heart attack caused by the drugs given to him.

 The death penalty causes stress on a society, also it increases crime rates

 People tend to enjoy watching executions of convicts

The death penalty is inhumane in itself, and there is always a chance something can go wrong

 Lethal injection  Electric chair  Hanging  Firing squad  Lethal gas

 March 13, 1985, Texas, Stephen Peter Morin, Lethal Injection o Because of his drug abuse, the doctors probed his legs and arms for a viable vein for 45 minutes
