1.Have a clear objective stating job applying and strength and weakness. 2.Use reasonable active verbs. 3.Use bullets to list out your skills, abilities, activities, and work experience. 4.Use bold lettering sparingly, only emphasizing significant accomplishments. 5.Include your phone number, postal address, and an address with your first and last name in it. 6.For your qualifications/experience/activities always include what you did, location, and time involved. 7.Make sure to list activities/experiences/activities with your most recent first!

1.Include your address, employers, and the date job application is due. 2.Use a salutation (Dear) at the beginning, and an end greeting (Sincerely) at the end. 3.The first paragraph restates your objective. 4.The second paragraph includes your experience and qualifications. 5.The third paragraph discusses your education and anticipated date of graduation. 6.The final paragraph includes your contact information and your action plan.

You will be uploading your files in the following location: 1.“S” Drive 2.“Teacher” Folder 3.“STU” Folder 4.“Sun-Kleinberger” 5.“In-Box” by your period.

1.Save the resume and cover letter as 2 documents because you will need to upload them as separate documents to E-folio.. I do not want a hard copy for the final, which means do not worry about putting your signature on the cover letter. 2.Bring your thumb drive with you to upload your file and save it for your records. 3.Save your document as your name!!! Example: “Nathan.Sun-Kleinberger.Resume.Doc and Nathan.Sun-Kleinberger.Cover Letter.Doc” -If your name is NOT on your document it will count as missing!!!! 4. Please save your document in my “In-Box!!”

1.Mr. Sun-K will grade your drafts. 2.He will choose the 12 students over Thanksgiving Weekend.  During the first week of December, Andrea will select the 6 semifinalists. 1.The 6 students will visit Berntson Porter on December 11 th.

1.Mr. Sun-K will give you comments electronically and a grade on your rubric. 2.If you get a 70% or higher, please submit your document to your advisor for approval once Efolio is running for your graduation requirement. 3.This is why it is important to save your file on a thumbdrive.

In class: -Please also turn in your purple packet into the In-Box. Remember, No rubrics = -50% off your final score!!!! -All drafts and revisions including family revision sheet stapled to the purple packet. Electronically: The resume and cover letter to Mr. Sun-K’s “In-Box.”

1.Does your signature go before or after your name? - Usually before, but when you submit a resume electronically you do not need a signature. 2.How many paragraphs should your cover letter have? Four. -Paragraph 1: Objective -Paragraph 2: Skills/Experience -Paragraph 3: Education -Paragraph 4: Action Plan and Concluding Remarks

4. Why do we have to have an address with your first and last name in it, besides our own funny nickname? It is a competitive world out there, especially now the economy is in a recession. It is much easier for an employer to contact you if your name is in your address. Besides, even though you think your nickname is funny, it might offend someone else. 5. Will Andrea hire us if we win the contest? There is an internship program for high schoolers with the Chamber of Commerce and she will call you for an interview. 6. What is the meaning of life? According to the Webster’s Dictionary “life” is defined as “the period of time between an organism’s birth and their death.”
