Mount Buller Geography Unit 3 Fieldwork 2010

Format of the SAC A written and media booklet is developed in and out of class over the next 3 weeks. This booklet can be used in the SAC. A SAC written task is based on the future management of Mt Buller

SAC media booklet What does it contain ? Introduction Methodology Knowledge of the impact on the local environment and community Effect of use Present management

Introduction ( section 1 10%) Identify and describe the geographical characteristics of the local resource. Classification of the resource Discussion on how the data was collected ( Methodology) Reference to other types of similar resources in the area

Section 2 ( 30%) Knowledge of the impact use on the local environment and community. Description of the current use of the resource Knowledge of the use of the local resource. Description and classification of the effects of resource use and management on people and place. Factors affecting use and management Analysis of data collected in the field and research completed to process information about the resource use. Refer to site assessments Description on the current management

SAC 150 minutes ( over 3-4 lessons) Class time Bring your completed media booklet

Section 3 (written) 30% ( completed in SAC test conditions in class) Future policy Suggest a policy for the future sustainable use of the local resource. This future policy may include some spatial elements (i.e. a map) Develop criteria to justify a policy to regulate sustainable development and use of the selected resource Evaluation of the policy

Section 4: Spatial concepts (throughout the report) 10 % Identification and use of the relevant spatial concepts throughout the report. This section will be marked both from the media booklet and written SAC

Section 5 Production and use of Geog media throughout the report Use of geographical techniques to create representations e.g. maps, diagrams, sketches, labelled photos Integration of data to show evaluation of policy This section is marked from both the media booklet and written SAC
