What Is History Day? National Competition for Grades 6-8 Focuses on a theme…Leadership and Legacy in History Students create a project by working as a Historian… Reading and analyzing secondary sources Reading and analyzing primary sources With some planning, many of the projects we already do in class can be used as part of a History Day project!
Project Categories Paper words; individual only Exhibit Backboard, museum-type display; individual and group Website 1200 word, 100 MB maximum, using program designed by NHD; individual and group Performance 10 minutes; individual and group Documentary short movie; 10 minutes; individual and group
Why Should I Participate in History Day? This is for students who LOVE history and competition All participants will receive school awards All participants will be eligible for state and national awards State winners will be eligible to attend the National History Day event at the University of Maryland College Park in June, 2015 See for more information.
