Workshop 5 Peer Review in VET & HE Peer review as an instrument for quality assurance & quality development – new developments & lessons learned Case 1: LdV Project Peer Reviews in IVET Case 2: Peer Review in HE

Workshop 5 Common Principles for Quality Assurance in E&T discussed: QA to ensure improvement of E&T QA policies & procedures at all levels of E&T systems (IVET, CVET, HE) QA as an integral part of the internal management of E&T institutions regular evaluation by external monitoring bodies/agencies regularly reviewed external monitoring bodies/agencies QA on context, input, process & output dimensions   emphasis to outputs & learning outcomes. QA systems:+ clear & measurable objectives & standards + guidelines for implementation, including stakeholder involvement + appropriate resources + consistent evaluation methods (self-assessm. & external review) + feedback mechanisms & procedures for improvement + widely accessible evaluation results Co-ordinated QA initiatives at international, national & regional level  overview, coherence, synergy & system-wide analysis EU QA guidelines as reference points for evaluations & peer-learning

Workshop 5 Main Lessons Learned/Workshop Results 1.No big differences between peer review in HE or IVET. 2.Evaluation and peer review for improvement, to support provider in quality development; also to increase acceptance of evaluation. 3.Publicity of results is the key of success. Critical position for development goes deeper than mutual learning. Syndromes of nice quys / assassines. 4.Peer review is only one element of quality assurance.
