How to stay safe on the internet! Mrs. Jessi Bailey April 6, 2013

Mrs. Carroll The WORLD is at our fingertips…… BUT We have to be safe!

This also means that we have to protect ourselves. If you are not safe and cautious, bad things can happen if we are not safe when using online resources.

Stop! Block! Tell!

Also Remember: ZIP BLOCK FLAG!

STOP! If you see something that you think you should not be looking at then just STOP!  Do not keep going  Turn off your monitor or shut your laptop  Ask for help

BLOCK! Remember that people on the internet are not necessarily who they say they are! Be cautious and know that predators are everywhere! Be careful and safe!

Tell! If you see something bad, close the computer! Immediately call the teacher to your computer! Seeing something bad does not make you a bad student!

McGruff’s Internet Safety Pledge Check each promise and sign your name at the bottom. Then put it by your computer so you’ll always remember how to stay cyber- safe! I PROMISE: Never to give out my name, address, phone number, school name, any adult’s credit card number to anyone online. Never to arrange a face-to-face meeting with anyone I meet online. Never to go into chat rooms unless my parents say it’s okay. Never to open s from someone I don’t know and never to go to links I don’t recognize. Always to tell an adult if I see anything online that makes me feel uncomfortable. X___________________________ DATE:____ ______________
