Mrs. Frazier’s ELA Class Information

Mrs. Frazier’s ELA Class Welcome to a new school year! 6 th Grade brings so much to look forward to; being the oldest in the school, getting closer to Junior High, field trips, end of the year celebration, just to name a few. So, let’s set the year off right and see what there is to learn! Areas of Study English Language Arts is A combination of Spelling, Writing, English, and Reading. Be on Time Be prepared Be respectful Be ready to think Be open to new ideas Be willing to take risks Be accountable Be responsible You will need: Homework completed on time Your notebook and folders Ready to go pencils A book to read, always! Spelling Reading Writing English Expectations:

Policies Homework Policy -sent home and to be signed and returned…same for all of 6 th grade Behavior Policy -sent home and to be signed and returned…same for all of 6 th grade Attendance Policy -in conjunction with the school handbook E- DEVICES Sorry… There will be no use of personal electronic devices in class. Responsibility! Dress Code -in conjunction with the school handbook Be responsible for: -your homework -your actions -your words -your involvement - YOU!

Respect is different than just following policies and rules. Respect is earned when it is given. When we respect each other, our class time together will go very smoothly. I do not expect you to be perfect and you should not expect me to be perfect, but we should expect that we will respect each other’s mistakes and differences. Reading: -required to read Accelerated Reader (AR) books; 2 per marking period. -we will be reading novels and nonfiction books together in class -we will be reading some books from our anthology Spelling/English: -you will get a Spelling Menu once per week -you will have an English test once per week Writing: -we will use the Write Tools (green, yellow, pink, blue highlighters again) -you will learn Argumentative, Narrative, and Informational Writing Respect should be the first thing you give. Class time: (very brief synopsis)
