Colombia We contribute to enhance children’s protagonism in the construction of PEACE in Colombia by mobilizing technical and financial support, articulating our efforts to complimentary processes and by making visible the invisible. FUNDACION MI SANGRE

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES 1.Psychosocial Rehabilitation We alleviate the impact of antipersonnel mines (APM) on the psychosocial condition of children and adolescents 2.Education for Peace: We develop citizenship skills amongst children and adolescents living the armed conflict. That enables them to contribute and participate in building a democratic, peaceful and inclusive society

REGIONS IN COLOMBIA WHERE THE METHODOLOGY HAS BEEN APPLIED: Antioquia, Meta, Nariño, Bolívar, Caldas DIRECTLY EDUCATED POPULATION : DIRECTLY EDUCATED POPULATION : 1130 INDIRECTLY EDUCATED: 5650 (Including children, adolescents, adults and elders) NUMBER OF OPERATING ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAVE IMPLEMENTED IT: 4 CCCM, CIREC, HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL, CINDE What is the effect that the PPP has had in MI SANGRE

PPP has become a very practical pedagogical tool that allows our children and adolescents to: Awake the love for reading and knowledge Analyze and think about their realities Share their experiences during war through games “Learning by doing” Awake their curiosity and critical position facing key themes like rights and duties What is the effect that the PPP has had in MI SANGRE

THE IMPACT OF “LA CARTONERA” IN THE ACHIEVEMENT OF OUR AIMS Psychosocial Rehabilitation  PPP strengthened the process of psychosocial rehabilitation of antipersonnel landmines because:  It allows the approach between the landmines victims´communities  The survivors get to express the effects of the accidents openly  It created recreational places that persist in the communities without the need of great economic resources

Education for Peace: PPP has proved to be an excellent complement to our methodologies of education for peace because: It promotes the communicative capacities, oral expression and active participation of the children and adolescents of many sectors  It includes texts related to human rights, conflicts and peace that allow deep thoughts that are shared between the students  It provides teachers and parents with concrete tools that can be implemented in their contexts easily THE IMPACT OF “LA CARTONERA” IN THE ACHIEVEMENT OF OUR AIMS

Testimonies “We always think children should just obey us and we never listen to them… Today I listened to their opinions and realized that they have something to say when you just let them” Olga – age 45 - head of family- San Carlos, Antioquia “ “ I like the workshops a lot because you can talk and express yourself. You also learn many things you never heard of before” Carolina – age 10 – Cocorná, Antioquia

“Ohhh, today I realized we have the right to study and the duty to respect others” Sofia Carolina - age 8 – Cocorná Antioquia “I like that while we are playing, we learn many things to become better persons” – Genaro – age 10 – Montebello. Antioquia

We´ll keep on adapting and enriching the methodology with local talent. For us, it has evolved from “La Cartonera” to “Paloma La Cartonera” We accept the challenge of multiplying “Paloma La Cartonera” to local organizations, teachers and operators, using it as a toolbox that can be easily adapted and applied to form critical, democratic, inclusive and participative citizens in Colombia. Looking towards the future

I want the peace In Colombia, too

¡THANK YOU!
