Summer Slips into Autumn  Watch for  Dark parking lots with light timers that don’t turn the lights on until 9:00 p.m.!!!!!  Storm drains plugged with fading foliage

New to Your Building?  … or need a reminder?  Where are these items in your school/office?????  Fire Extinguishers  Safety Bags & Clipboards  Eye Wash Station  MSDS Books

Classroom Setup Safety Tips Keep safety in mind when setting up a classroom. Create an environment that reflects the learning goals, personality, interests and age of the student who learn there. Create a space that is safe, comfortable and conducive to learning.  ·Use a ladder; no swivel chairs or boxes to stand upon.  · Create wide, unobstructed pathways in high traffic areas.  · Keep your classroom clean and orderly.  · Use the appropriate tools for the job.  · Tie up all cords and cables  · Check to see that equipment, locks, windows, window coverings and doors are operating properly.  · Repair broken furniture, desks and chairs.

Safety Precautions Implemented by Board  School Board requires employee ID badge to be worn by all staff  Schools will implement sign in procedure to monitor all itinerants, visitors, district staff, volunteers. What’s yours?  If you see someone without a badge, what would you do/say? Your Name Here

Monitor your Visitors  Coming soon - a new software implementation called “HelpCounter”.

What should you do if you get hurt?  · Get to safety, ask for help and/or seek emergency medical attention.  · Once you are stabilized and no longer in danger of further injury, report the injury to your supervisor. Your supervisor will help you obtain the medical attention you may need.  · Obtain the injury reporting form from your building administrative support and fill them out, if you can, or take the forms with you as you seek medical attention. (The district will always encourage your medical provider to treat injuries without regard to paperwork, but we have encountered medical provider who will not provide non-emergent care without these forms filled out by yourself and your supervisor).
