Enzymes 2-4

Chemical Reaction A process that transforms one set of chemicals into another.

Reactant The elements or compounds that enter into a chemical reaction.

Product The elements or compounds produced by a chemical reaction.

Activation Energy The energy needed to start a chemical reaction.

Catalyst A substance that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction.

Enzyme A protein that acts as a biological catalysts.biological catalysts

Enzyme Analogy

$400

10$/ hr.

$ Breakdown 10$/ hr. X 4 = $ 40 Working only Saturday’s – $40 X 10 = $400 – You can buy the system in DE

But….

So…. $ Breakdown 20% of $400 = $80 Which means the PS4 will cost only $320!!

And you only need to work for 8 weeks!!

Unfortunately…

So what can cause harm… Change in pH (because soap is basic) Change in temperature (because the dryer gets pretty hot)

Just like an enzyme…

Substrate The compound that an enzyme changes during a chemical reaction.

Enzyme Substrate Complex
