Intro to Space Travel

Why do we Explore Space?

The International Space Station has been defined by some, as the greatest accomplishment of human beings. Others consider it a waste of resources that would be better spent on human suffering on the planet. What do you think?

What are some other issues affecting deep space travel. Why can't we just pack up and go?

Are there any economic benefits to continuing with deep space travel? Social benefits?

How much bigger is the Sun than the planets of the solar system?

How far apart are the planets? If the Earth is the size of this globe, The moon is about the size of a tennis ball. How far apart should they be placed?

The average distance to the Moon is 382,500 km. Using our scale this equates to about 7.2 m

If the sun were the size of a volleyball, The Earth would be about a peppercorn. And they would be be about ____ m a)6 m b)16 m c)24 m d)32 m ***

Let’s “Take a Hike”

We could not even get to Jupiter. Look at this map Planetary scale model in Dauphin
