One fact I found interesting When George Washington Carver was just an infant, he and his mother, Mary, were kidnapped by bandits. His "owner" Moses Carver offered a $ racehorse for their return but the bandits return George and kept his mother. It's believed that he was returned because George had the whooping cough.
