Education: I have my Bachelor of Science from Brenau University in Early Childhood Education. I have my Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University in Brain- Based Teaching & Learning. Also, I am gifted certified in the state of Georgia. Experience: I have been in Gwinnett County Schools for over 13 years.

Instructional Assessments (District Developed Assessments) will be given 3 times during the school year. One at the beginning, middle, and end. These tests measure progress.

Testing Information: Students will take: CoGAT- Cognitive Ability Test ITBS- Iowa Test of Basic Skills Promotion: In order to be promoted to 3rd grade, students must master the 2nd grade AKS.

A- Excellent Progress 100%-90% B- Above Average Progress 89% – 80% C- Average Progress 79%-74% D – Below Average Progress73%-70% U- Unsatisfactory Progress 69% & Below

In our classroom, we use a behavior system using colored strips. Green- great day, good choices Yellow- needs to think about choices Red- poor choices all day *Students have the opportunity to get back on green before the end of the day, if they pull a yellow strip. School wide, we will be using “Caught Being Good” slips. Behavior cards will be sent home in your child’s Friday folder.

Attendance: It is very important for students to be here daily, however life does happen. If your child is absent, please bring a note when he or she returns to school. Excused absences include: illness, death, court order, or religious holiday. Students must attend at least HALF of the school day in order to be counted present. Transportation: If your child is planning on riding another bus or going home using a different transportation,(bus, walker, car rider) a note must be sent to school via or written notice. Your child will be given a transportation tag that must stay attached to their bookbag.

Friday Folders: Friday folders will be sent home each Friday. The Friday folder will contain: work from the week and important information and events for our school. Report Cards: Will be given at the end of the nine week period. Class Website:

How to access eClass

Behavior/ homework sheets are used for homework due dates. It helps the students with organization and filling them out with important reminders. I will check the homework sheet daily for notes. Homework will be given daily. Students are expected to read daily. Reading with your child allows students to love reading and truly affects his or her success.

PTA is a wonderful way to be involved in your child’s school! Please take the time to join PTA! PTA Holiday Shop is also a great way to be involved.
