Building a Computer BY JOSHUA WILD U2_P5P6_VERSION_1.0 TASK 2.3

Installing the PSU(Power Supply Unit) Installing the Power Supply Unit is quite easy. All you have to do is remove the four screws that are holding it to the computer case, then unplug all the wires that connect it to various components such as the motherboard and the hard drive.

Installing the hard drive Removing the hard drive from the computer case is simple. You have to unplug the wires that connect it to the motherboard and the PSU. Then you simply slide it out of the case.

Installing the fans Installing the fan is just a case of screwing the four screws that hold it in. You may need to unscrew the fan at times to clean it of any build up dust or you might need to remove it to replace it.

Installing the RAM Installing the RAM is easy-simply unclip the two clips that are used to hold the RAM in, then gently remove the sticks of RAM from the socket.

Customising Here I am customising the computer. I am doing this by changing the theme of Windows 7 to United Kingdom instead of the default setting.

Customising the Font size I have changed the size of the font, this might make it easier for the visually impaired member of the team to read the text on the screen. As you can see, the picture on the left demonstrates the size of the font before I changed it, and the picture on the right shows the font size after I have made it larger.

Customising-The Screen Resolution I decided to not change the screen resolution. I chose not to because the default screen resolution is a lot more suited to the size of the screen and everything fits on. Default x x 600

Customising-The Power Settings I have again decided not to change the power settings. I have chosen not to because the computer is a desktop and it doesn’t have a battery so its not going to run out of power. The computer will be on and being used most of the time, meaning there won’t be much time for it to be in power-saving mode or any low power mode.

Customising- The Language As you can see from the screenshot, the default language was already set to English(United Kingdom). As BFS is based in the U.K I have decided to leave the language as it is.
