Where is your emergency? If you had an emergency right now, would you…  Know your work address?  Municipality?  Phone number you are calling from?  Suite number or building name?

WHAT IS YOUR EMGERNCY? What do you need?  ambulance?  fire truck?  police?

MEDICAL EMERGENCY Is the person : Breathing? Bleeding? Unconscious? Complaining of pain? Injured? Any medical history?

FIRE EMERGENCY Has everyone evacuated? What is on fire? Do you see flames or smell smoke? What does it smell like? Is your alarm sounding?

DO YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY PLAN?

POLICE EMERGENCY  Is it occurring now?  Are there any weapons?  Is anyone hurt?  Who is involved? Did you see them?  Do you know who they are?  Can you describe them?

The police will not do anything to put you in danger !!

911 HANG UP 99% of all 911 hang ups and open lines are accidental but constitutes a police response. So, if you call 911 accidentally, don’t hang up !

Avoid using third party callers Only use when absolutely necessary 3 rd party callers could impede outcome Lack of information relayed for responding units may put all at risk !!

Are you prepared for theft? Keep records of all your equipment in the event of a theft or burglary.

Does your company store or make hazardous materials? If so, what are they? What dangers do they pose for workers and emergency responders?

In Summary Know where you are Assess the situation prior to calling, if possible Stay calm Speak clearly Don’t hang up unless you are in danger Be prepared to answer questions about the incident. If you can’t obtain information safely, don’t delay the call!
