Habitats: Life in a Polar Region

What do polar region habitats look like? The only people that live in the Antarctic are scientists in research stations. Much of the land is covered by snow and ice more than one mile thick!

What types of animals live in polar region habitats? Animals in the Polar Region survive in these very cold lands. The temperature can drop to 50 degrees below zero!

What types of plants are found in polar region habitats? In the arctic, plants have to be very sturdy. There are grasses, moss, lichen and flowers.

Movie

Questions? Can you give an example of an animal that lives in a polar region habitat? Can you give an example of a plant that you would find in a polar region habitat? What would you see if you walked through a polar region habitat?
