Standard for device integration in software systems FDT = Field Device Tool FDT is a standardised interface specification FDT defines the interface between –FDT frame application –DTM = Device Type Manager FDT is based on Microsoft COM and XML technology

DTM can be applied to any devices, such as sensors, actuators remote I/O, drives and so on. FDT supports current investment. FDT supports all functions of device. FDT is independent from any communication protocols such as HART, Profibus, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus and so on. FDT can handle multiple protocols.
