Summer BreakSpot Helpline Training 2012 Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services

More than half of the children in Florida qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. THE NEED

The Summer BreakSpot is meant to fill the gap so that these students still have access to nutritious meals when school lets out for the summer months… and they return to school in the fall well-nourished and ready to learn! THE NEED

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE (SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM) ?

Provides meals and snacks to children 18 years of age and younger at approved locations. SUMMER BREAKSPOT

Ensure that children in low-income areas receive nutritious meals while school is not in session. THE PURPOSE

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services & the Florida Partnership to End Childhood Hunger The Florida Partnership to End Childhood Hunger is made up of community organizations working together to INCREASE ACCESS & AWARENESS to the Summer BreakSpot so that more kids participate.

“Answering the Call” is playing a pivotal role helping families learn about the availability of the Summer BreakSpot
