Where is Davenport, Iowa? QUICK FACTS  Population of 100,000+ on the shore of the Mississippi River  Largest city within the Quad Cities, a metro region of almost 400,000 people  Part of HUD Region VII  5 th largest of 14 entitlements

Preparing for Field Office “visit” a.k.a. HUD is coming, HUD is coming  Could begin with a phone call  Follow-up with a letter  Verify programs/areas/functions to be reviewed.  Determine if any tours/site visits

Logistics – most important  Dedicated work space  Names, numbers, and program area of staff  Parking options  List of restaurants

Pre-visit work  Determine which exhibits HUD will use  Web address handbook.cfm handbook.cfm  File for each exhibit  - complete the checklist  - include copy of support documentation  Check program files for completeness and order

Entrance Conference  Assure appropriate staff present  Provide staff list – and office location  Access to copier – per your city protocol  Housekeeping items

During the visit  Be a good “host”  Be available  Consider lunching  At the end of the day, stop and say good-bye
