T HE I DEA Raised as part of the recommendations concluded by the Euro-Arab Conference for Supporting SMEs (20-22 February, 2010 in Damascus, Syria) as a common Arab-European mechanism for enhancing communication, cooperation and exchange of expertise and information between relevant SME agencies in the Arab World and Europe.

T HE C OUNCIL (EABC) Non-profit organization established with the support of AIDMO and is financially and administratively independent adjoining in its membership Arab and European bodies involved in SME support, development and financing.

T HE P URPOSE Ensuring optimal use of funds* and programmes launched in both regions for SME rehabilitation and development in order to boost the competitiveness of SMEs, enhancing industrial exports to enable them to engage in the global production chain, transferring advanced technology from European countries to the Arab World, and stimulating joint Euro-Arab industrial investments in the SME sector. * I.e. Sheikh Al-Subah fund to support SMEs (launched in the Kuwait Arab Economic Summit January last year of 2 Billion of USDs)

M EMBERSHIP The Council membership is open to the ministries, organizations, commissions, institutions, export development centers, unions and chambers (commerce, industry, and agriculture), business associations, companies and individuals and other bodies from the economic sectors in Arab states and the European Union.
