Healthy Kansans 2010 Health Focus Areas The Steering Committee reviewed trends, needs, strengths in each of the focus areas listed below to establish a foundation for Healthy Kansans 2010 Maternal Infant Child Health Oral Health Hearing HIV & STD Family Planning Arthritis Childhood & Adult Immunization Disability Environmental Health Cancer Chronic Kidney Disease Nutrition & Physical Activity Respiratory Health Occupational Health Vision Heart Disease & Stroke Diabetes Mental Health Substance Abuse Injury & Violence Tobacco Access to Care Public Health Infrastructure

The 10 Leading Health Indicators Progress in Healthy Kansans 2010 is measured by the 10 Leading Health Indicators, a snapshot of health in the first decade of the 21 st century Physical Activity Overweight & Obesity Tobacco Use Substance Abuse Responsible Sexual Behavior Mental Health Injury & Violence Environmental Quality Immunization Access to Health Care

Workgroups The Steering Committee identified three cross-cutting areas common to multiple health focus areas that will result in the improvement of multiple leading health indicators. Workgroups were developed around each of the three areas and tasked with developing recommendations: Reducing and Eliminating Health and Disease Disparities System Interventions to Address Social Determinants of Health Early Disease Prevention, Risk Identification and Intervention for Women, Children and Adolescents
