The health care a person receives 5. The behaviors and situations a person chooses 6. The quality of the relationships a person has 7. The decisions a person makes 8. A person’s ability to use resistance skills 9. The kinds of risks a person takes 10. The degree to which a person is resilient

Heredity Factors Affecting Health Protective Factor vs. Risk Factor Protective Factor = something that increases the likelihood of a positive outcome Risk Factor = something that increases the likelihood of a negative outcome

Healthy and Risky Behaviors  Healthful Behaviors: Promotes health Prevents injury, illness, and premature death Improves the quality of the environment
