Three Types of Projects: ► Problem Solving ► Exposition (Telling About) ► Demonstration (Showing How) Things to consider: ► Child’s personal interest/experiences ► Current topics in the news ► Narrowing your topic ► Must relate to people
Research ► Must be in a report cover ► MLA Style ► Cover Page (with illustration; no name) ► Table of Contents ► Abstract (brief summary of content, purpose, and reference sources used) ► Body (in your own words) ► Conclusion (summary) ► Bibliography(different types of references)
Board ► Must be able to stand alone ► Handmade or purchased (Michael’s, Hobby Lobby) ► Title ► Pictures w/captions ► Charts, graphs, maps, etc. ► Any visuals related to your topic ► Limit background to 2-3 colors ► Neatness, spelling, grammar ► Visually appealing
Center Display ► Required – 3D display ► Table area in front of board ► Models ► Exhibits ► Crafts ► Tools ► Laptops for multimedia presentation ► Samples ► Books ► Need to include student made item either for center display or on the board
Oral Presentation ► Practice at home ► Displays, props, costumes, multimedia can be used ► Presentation should be organized including introduction and conclusion (tell what you learned) ► Technology strongly encouraged (slideshow, powerpoint, podcast) ► Demonstrate knowledge of topic without reading from board or report to show that the project is primarily the student’s work ► Be able to answer questions related to your topic
