AFE IIt Project Status

Current Status  AFE II Prototype Testing Complete u Detailed ch by ch testing has been done s 3071 good channels out of 3072 through comprehensive test u Continuing with some long-term (weeks) testing of cryo control and stability on the VLPC CC cryostat  Packaged TriPt (MOSIS) in house  TriPt/FPIX submission - OUT  Design input for AFE IIt board finished  Schematic Complete – 6/20 4 weeks behind - but  Layout Complete – 6/28 about 2 weeks behind u We have authorized OT and it is being used u Will try to add a second Layout tech towards the end. For technical reasons this is not appropriate at this time  Only issue u Could use 1 additional person to work on FPGA programming

Current Status AFE II Prototype- Gain

Current Status AFE II Prototype - Noise 1 pe  6 fC

Current Status - TriPt  Out for Fab Proposed reticule layout for TriPt/FPIX Proposed wafter map 70 reticules

Current Status - Layout

Current Status - TriPt  TriPt: u Packaged “MOSIS” parts are here u Robot tester work progressing: adapter board in layout (estimate: 1 week) u Mechanical parts for robot complete

Response to Recommendations from Director’s Review  We have modified the project plan to include: u A second submission of the TriPt chip s This, of course, does produce a delay in the project completion. The funds are there if needed, however s We believe that the probability for a successful run is very high u Production of 350 boards. u Over time for layout technician(s) for AFE IIt board  Bob Demaat has joined the AFE IIt project as L2 production manager  Weekly reporting will occur via the AFE IIt production meeting with progress and schedule status from the L3 managers written up and published as minutes of this meeting
