WELCOME Κ Α Λ Ω Σ Η Ρ Θ Α Τ Ε YUNUS EMRE NURSERY SCHOOL
Our kindergarten is in TURKEY, in a beautiful city Istanbul.
About us: The team of our state kindergarden consists of 1 head teacher, 11 preschool teachers, part-time folk dance, music, chess and English teacher,. There are 250 pupils (from 4 to 6 year old), 4 morning classes and 4 afternoon classes. Some of the students stay at the school all day. According to the preschool education program our goal is to develop psychomotor, social, emotional, cognitive, lingual and self-care skills of our pupils. We aim to improve their creativity through drawing and music lessons, crafts (clay work and pottery), chess, English lessons, folk dance (traditional dance) lessons and drama lessons. We also arrange trips to a glass workshop, a pottery workshop, the Aquarium, the Science Museum, the Toy Museum and other places.

Our Music Activity:
Considering children’s ability to learn fast while doing the activities involving their emotions and physical contact we often have outdoor classes in the courtyard which became our “experimental” garden where we plant fruit and vegetables, observe natural processes, study nature and science. We also like to use our garden as an open air gym where we play games, do sport exercises and other activities which represent healthy lifestyle. Sometimes our pupils go horse riding, swimmimg and even ice- skating.
Every month we organize educational seminars and private meetings for parents where each of them have an opportunity to ask questions and get advice. We also take part in the projects which aim to support (financial and moral support) “special” children and the ones who grow up in socially and economically unfavourable conditions.
Participating in this kind of educational projects is a great opportunity to introduce the culture of different countries to our pupils, to show them how important it is to be tolerant and to respect customs and traditions of other countries. At the end of every academic year our pupils perform on stage. Their performance includes folk dancing which is common for different regions of our country. They wear traditional costumes and accessories which makes the show unforgetable for their parents and readers of our school annual newspaper that contains reports on the performance.
We are singing, dancing, drawing and doing lots of interesting things. Also our pupils love to play too…
Other Activities:
According to its diverse culture our country is divided into 7 different regions. Every region has its own folk dancing, cuisine, music, traditional crafts, clothes and historical background. Due to geographical location between Europe and Asia and cultural diversity of our country we believe that our kindergarden can become a partner that contributes to the project in many ways providing cultural and international exchange. In the age of globalization we consider this project as a great chance for our children from an early age to learn how to be respectful of people from other countries, how to be tolerant of different customs and traditions, how to live together peacefully and stay friends. THANK YOU
