WHY ARE AARDVARKS CALLED ANT EATERS? Aardvarks enjoy eating ants and termites. Their noses can smell ants underground. Aardvarks then will dig into the ground to find the ants.

DO ANIMALS OTHER THAN BIRDS MIGRATE LONG DISTANCE? The Wildebeest migration in Africa travels over 900 miles.

WHY DO ANIMALS FIGHT? Some animals fight to learn about hunting. Other fight to let the other animals know they are unhappy. Some animals fight to learn who is in charge.

WHY DO SOME ANIMALS HIDE? Animals hide because they are trying to allow other animals (including Humans). Some animals hide to trap the prey they are hunting.

HOW TALL ARE ELEPHANTS? HOW MUCH DO THEY WEIGHT? Elephants are usually between 9 and 12 feet tall. They weight up to 20,000 pounds (as much as a semi-truck)

HOW LONG DO LIONS LIVE? They live between years in the wild, but in zoos they can live up to 20 years.

WHY DO ANIMALS CHASE EACH OTHER? Usually animals are chasing each other because one if the prey of the other.

WHY DO ELEPHANTS KNOCK DOWN TREES WITH THEIR TUSKS? The elephants can't reach the top of trees to eat the leaves. So they knock down the tree to get to them.

WHY DO LIONS ROAR? Lion make sounds to talk to each other and other animals. These sounds include snarling, purring, hissing, coughing, meowing, woofing and roaring. An can be heard 5 miles away.

WHY DO EAGLES HAVE LONG WINGS? Long wings help birds glide in the air. With longer wings birds don't need to move them constantly to fly.

WHY DO CHEETAS LOOK LIKE BIG CATS? Because they are big cats. House cats are distant relations of big cats.

WHY DO BABOONS SHOW THEIR TEETH? The trying to intimidate each other. They are trying to look mean.

WHY DO MONKEYS HAVE FUR ON THEIR BODIES? Fur is the same thing as hair. Monkeys have hair on their body to keep them warm.

WHY DO ANIMALS TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES? They are migrating to other areas. They are traveling usually in search of food or warmer weather.

WHY ARE SOME DEER SO SMALL? Deer, or antelope, are many different sizes. Some are small so they can survive better.
