Expressing Future Time

Verb “to be” + going to We’re going to go to San Francisco next week. Maria and Anthony are going to visit their parents in two weeks. She’s going to travel to Viet Nam next year.

Negative statements They’re not going to go to Europe until next year. The economy probably isn’t going to improve much this year. My friends and are going to go wine tasting next weekend.

Questions Are we going to have a test next week? -Yes, we are./No, we’re not. Is Laura going to visit her parents this weekend? -Yes she is./No she isn’t. Are you going to graduate next semester? Yes I am. /No I’m not.

Using the Present Progressive My friend and I are driving to Los Angeles in two weeks. Rebecca is going to Portland on Friday. My wife is working next weekend.

Negative statements She’s not graduating next semester. We’re not flying to New York in two weeks. Maria’s not going to the movie tonight.
