Identification After you bring the animals, plants, and/or algae back to the lab you will have to classify them down to genus and species. The best way to do this is to begin with Kingdom, Phylum and Class. Once you have narrowed the organism down to its class, use your book to key it down to genus and species.

Note cards In the past some students have found it useful to create note cards that focus on the organisms on your list. One side of the card has a picture/description of the organism plus where the organism was found The other side has the genus and species name.
