What Is the Community Service Chair. 100 Years of Rotary in Ireland District Assembly 7 May 2011 The district Community Service chair coordinates and promotes club community service projects within the district. works with clubs; encourages district-wide participation; shares information and ideas with Rotarians Encourages clubs to share new ideas which can then be promoted among Rotary Clubs within the district.

Successful Projects Operating in our Communities 100 Years of Rotary in Ireland District Assembly 7 May 2011 The Rotary Christmas Memorial Tree Appeal A Symbol of Rotary’s Commitment to Community Started in Waterford in 1998 Has raised funds of €1,000, new Rotary clubs joined the program These 12 new clubs raised an average of €9, each.

Giving Blood 100 Years of Rotary in Ireland District Assembly 7 May ,000 donations are needed every week. Over 1,000 people receive transfusions every week in Ireland. Only 3% of the Irish population give blood, providing blood for a population of over 4 million. Only 5% of the Irish population eligible to give blood do so. A car accident victim may require up to 30 units of blood.

Create a rotary garden e.g. Monaghan Club undertook a project in conjunction with Monaghan County Council Donate a Rotary clock to the local community e.g. RC Portlaoise undertook this project. Every Club raise funds to send one of their members to volunteer in the “Eradication of polio” program
