 Teachers go through Minion video with students and have students identify the 5 problems and the steps used to solve them. FSw

ProblemsSolutions

 Teacher place students in groups of three or four.  As a group, students will be assigned ONE problem from the following slide that they will solve.  Using the Problem Solving Steps worksheet, students will “solve the issue”  Students will present their problem solving steps as a group. Each student in the group will present a different step to the problem.

 Group 1 Joey is midway through his senior year and he has not passed his English II EOC. He is passing all his classes but he is not doing anything extra to prepare for the test he needs to retake. He is feeling frustrated with having to take the test again and overwhelmed because he doesn’t think he is ready and doesn’t know how to prepare for it.  Group 2 When Cindy loses her temper, she yells at Jake. Sometimes she hits him or throws things at him. Last time, she threw a glass at his head and he had to get stitches. But she always apologizes later and then is really nice to him-until she gets mad again.  Group 3 Allen wants to go to Tarleton University and has taken the SAT but needs to bring his GPA up two tenths of a point (.2) to meet the minimum qualifications. He has all As and Bs in his classes but needs to bring his B average in math up to an A to get the points. He is already studying regularly to make As and Bs and is working part time to save for college.  Group 4 Lisa’s mom and dad recently got divorced. She spends most weekends with her dad and feels close to both parents. Her mom asks lots of questions about her dad when Lisa gets back from his house. She wants to know about his apartment and if he’s dating anyone. Lisa doesn’t talk to her dad about those things but her mom insists on her trying to find out. Lisa feels very uncomfortable about this.

 Identify a problem/issue you have had with a teacher recently (grades, missing work, late to class, etc) and apply the problem solving techniques to solve it.
