The Atmosphere Chapter 15 Section 2 By:Jessica Roman

Air Pollution From Small Sources Some small causes of air pollution are gas stations and manufacturers. Bigger causes are power plants. More causes are transportation.

Smog Smog is formed in the Earth's lower atmosphere, near ground level, when pollutants emitted by cars, power plants, industrial boilers, refineries, chemical plants, and other sources react chemically in the presence of sunlight.

Acid Rain Acid Rain is used for precipitation that has a high concentration sulfur and nitric acid.

Temperature Inversion condition in which the temperature of the atmosphere increases with altitude in contrast to the normal decrease with altitude. When temperature inversion occurs, cold air underlies warmer air at higher altitudes.
