Objectives Discuss MFIP Quality Control Discuss Financial Worker’s Role in MFIP Quality Control, the Work Participation Rate, and Family Stabilization Services (FSS)

Quality Control Accuracy Report 10/07 – 2/ MFIP cases reviewed 9 error cases for $936 error dollars MFIP payment error rate was 2.7% MFIP case error rate was 9.3% 5 agency error cases for $366 total error $ 4 client error cases for $570 total error $

TANF Work Participation Rate (WPR) The federally mandated work performance requirement for states that have a TANF program. States must meet a 50% WPR. Through June 2008, the estimated Minnesota WPR = 29.6%.

Financial Worker Role in the WPR 1. Ensure MAXIS panels are coded correctly

Return FSS Cases to Standard MFIP CASH/ES When: The participant is no longer –Ill or incapacitated –Needed in the home due to the illness, injury, or incapacity of another member in the assistance unit –Meets the special medical criteria –Mentally ill –Qualifies for a family violence waiver –Unemployable Continue FSS Y/N: do not use

Return FSS Cases to Standard MFIP CASH/ES When: The participant is able to work 20 or more hours per week and employment is expected to continue, even though a disability continues. –Ill/Incapacitated more than 30 days –Developmentally disabled or mentally ill –Learning Disabled –Unemployable –IQ below 80 Continue FSS Y/N: do not use

Return FSS Cases to Standard MFIP CASH/ES When: The participant has been in the country for 12 months, unless the case manager and participant have determined the participant should continue with ESL classes or skills training, or both. Legal non-citizen cases may remain FSS beyond 12 months in some situations.

Return FSS Cases to Standard MFIP CASH/ES When: At redetermination when the caregiver is working in paid or unpaid employment enough hours to meet the federal WPR and the employment is expected to continue. –Family Violence Waiver –Adult or child in the household meets SMC –Applying for SSI or RSDI Continue FSS Y/N: code “N”
