What are weight loss pills? Weight loss pills are supplements that are sold over the counter and are by prescription as well. Many companies advertise that with current and without much effort that weight loss supplements are effective. Like multiple supplements weigh loss pills are rarely regulated and approved by the FDA.

How do weight loss supplements work? Weight loss supplements work by “blocking your body from absorbing about a third of the fat you eat” (WebMD, 2014). Although weight loss supplements block a third of the fat a person eats, the weight loss supplements also block out crucial vitamins from being absorbed into the body.

Who weight loss supplements may benefit Weight loss supplements are recommended for individuals who are, considered healthy and are over the age of 18 with no major health problems. Overweight individuals who are already incorporating a healthy exercise routine. Or those who are already exercising on a regular routine and would like to use weight loss supplements.

Who should not use weight loss supplements Children should not use supplements, especially weight loss supplements. It is a vital time of a child’s life, for the development and growth of their bodies. Sedentary individuals thinking that they have found the ‘magic pill’ to make them lose the weight. Individuals with weakened immune systems and cardiovascular health, as weight loss supplements can diminish the overall health of a person.

Incorporating weight loss supplements and exercise It is stated and known that there is no magic pill that will provide long term weight loss and that exercise plays a vital role in progressing into a healthier body. The weight loss supplements do not make a person lose the weight, as it has been stated it just makes them less likely to absorb fat when they eat. Exercise is the key component along side with a healthy meal plan and supplements if you choose.

Lifestyle change not a diet The word diet has a negative connotation there and tends to be a phase for people making drastic changes to their daily lives. Therefore when a person is on a weight loss supplement it is important that they make a lifestyle change to eat healthier longer than a diet is typically used. Incorporating exercise and a healthy meal plan is the strongest tool that can be used along side with weight loss supplements.

Have a mentor Strength is not only about physical appearance it’s also about a person’s overall well being, emotionally, courage etc. While starting a new weight loss supplement or any supplement and exercise routine having a mentor or a friend with a person can bring tremendous results to individuals. Weight loss is more than just taking a supplement.

Potential side effects Although weight loss supplements may sound good for you after reviewing this presentation, please be aware of the potential side effects based off the prescription weight loss supplement Belviq are: “The most common side effects in people who don’t have diabetes are headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, dry mouth and constipation. The most common side effects in those who have diabetes are low blood sugars, headache, back pain, cough and fatigue” (WebMD, 2014).
