Background Instrumentation capability is one of the major research topic in ASIAA Development of WIRCAM in CFHT successfully finished in 2005 Long term relationship with Japan Promote collaborations in Asian region Discussion with Subaru began in 2006

Hyper SuprimeCam HSC fits IAA’s interests both in the science and technical sides

Our Role in HSC Mechanical Shutter Filter exchanger CCD emulator? Optical and Mechanical components? Tight space and weight limits of the HSC makes it challenging

Specifications for shutter Time Repeatability : 1% Time Accuracy : 0.01 s Shortest exposure time : 1s Maximum Speed : 800 mm/s Operation Temperature : -10 to 10C Weight ~25Kg 15mm thickness at shutter body and 120mm diameter of the drums

Major activities in IAA Extract system design and specifications form Subaru last June HSC team formed in IAA ARL to be the major contractor for the two systems Fabric material purchased for strength test Regular meeting with ARL
