What was Purchased? 1.1 HP 2910-AL 24G Core Switch for $1, and 2.5 HP GB at $1, for a total of $5, *the additional $549 was covered by the Hancock District
HP 2910 AL 24G Core Switch: ( Main switch for the entire school ) for $ Four 10.0Gb fiber ports and Gb copper (Cat 6 ) Ethernet ports for core network Layer 2 switching means VLANs sense what is plugged into each port. Core Switch ( Center of Network ) with traffic prioritization. This allows us to give certain networks ( Admin / ITV ) priority over others (Labs ) as far as speed goes.
HP G Port Switch: ( 5 of these connected to the Core Switch) $1, each for a total of $5, (the additional $549 was covered by the Hancock School District) 48 ports of 1.0 Gb Ethernet Auto-sensing on each port we can plug in a computer, ITV, ip phone, wireless access point or even the security cams into a single port and still maintain separate networks on a single port. Layer 2 VLAN with throughput at 70 million packets per second ( pps ).... That's fast : )
Increased number of students Increased number of computers and wireless devices in the district-iPods, iPads and Kindle Fire’s Interactive white boards in every room Increased security on the network Without this grant, Hancock may not have been able to take the steps necessary in updating the infrastructure at Hancock School.
