Poem O The Titanic touches something deep inside you feel the pain and agony she tried to hide. She once stood so proud and true but now she rests alone in the silent hue. The Titanic can make you fearful and sad; by looking at the destination she had. Where was the room for iceberg and ship to pass that night- Why couldn't the Titanic greet Monday's early light?

My Evaluated Poem O The first line really means when she hits the bottom of the ocean after she starts to sink. The second line is saying that even though ships don’t have feelings, you know what it must be like, being practically broke in half and being abandoned at the bottom of the ocean. The sentence, “She once stood so proud and true,” means that when she was built, nobody ever thought she would sink because she was the best built ship yet. The next sentence means she is resting in pieces at the bottom of the silent ocean. The fifth sentence means a ton of people feel sad because they lost someone special to them in the wreck. The sentence after that is saying she didn’t reach the right spot before she crashed into the iceberg. The last two sentences mean why couldn’t the iceberg and ship pass each other and make it till the next morning. I chose this poem because I felt I understood it more than some of the other poems I read about the Titanic.

Question? O Does this reflect anything about your era? O The whole poem is about the Titanic, which was one of the major tragedies of It sets a sad and disappointing mood during the 1900’s as well as in the poem.

Genres O Realism- This is the presentation in art of the details of actual life. This begun in the 19 th century. O Naturalism- This is when Naturalists tended to view people as hapless victims of immutable natural laws. O Imagism- This was a literary movement that flourished between 1912 and This was mostly short poems.
