Classroom Rules and Procedures Mrs. Howard’s Class

Why Should We Have Rules and Procedures in Our Classroom?

RULESRULES 1. Be in class on time. 2. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 3. Listen to instructions the first time they are given. 4. Do not use vulgar or offensive language. 5. Have all materials ready to use when class begins.

Supplies and Materials You need to bring these things to class EVERYDAY and have them ready when class begins: Pencil (No pen) Paper 3-ring binder planner

When you enter the room… You will come in quietly. You will go immediately to your seat. You will start your cursive bell work as soon as you sit down. Cursive work

Cursive Work Cursive work should begin as soon as you sit down. You will copy the cursive from the board according to the directions. Cursive work will be done Monday – Thursday and turned in every Thursday at the end of Bell Work time.

Friday’s are different!!! We will play boggle every Friday. You will need to get a boggle sheet from the shelf under the boggle board before you sit down. Use the Boggle Board to find as many words as you can. Remember the letters have to be connected.

I need to say something! When you have something you need to say please always raise your hand and be acknowledged by me first. There will be NO BLURTING OUT!

If you are tardy… You need to sign in on tardy clipboard Make sure you write your name, time and you were tardy. Go quietly to your seat and I will come to you to catch you up if needed. It is extremely important to in class on time!!!

How do I fill out the Tardy Sign In Sheet? Mrs. Howard 9/20/129:47 Yes Teacher kept me late

I need to go to the restroom! We will have a signal for you to let me know you need to use the restroom: Raise your hand in a fist and twist it. Once you have my attention I will let you know if it is the appropriate time to go. Try to use the restroom before you come to class because when you leave the classroom you are missing important information!

I need to sharpen my pencil! It would be best if every student had their own personal pencil sharpener. I do not have a pencil sharpener available for the class to use. If you need your pencil sharpened you can silently ask a neighbor to borrow their sharpener. Let them know you need the pencil sharpener by pointing to the tip of your pencil. Use pencil only!!

I need a tissue! We will have a signal for you to let me know you need a tissue: Raise your hand and point to your nose Once you have my attention I will let you know if you can get up to get one or I will bring one to you.

How to Exit the Classroom. THE MAIN THINGS: The bell does not dismiss you I do! Girls are dismissed first Boys line up along the back of the room when girls are dismissed and stand quietly so the next period may enter and get to work. You will remain QUIET and IN YOUR SEAT until you are dismissed

Missing Assignments If you do not turn in an assignment on the day it is due you will need to get a missing assignment form from the front shelf and fill it out and turn it in when the other students turn in the assignment.

The Behavior Punch Card ______________________’s Behavior Card August

The Behavior Punch Card Each month you will receive a behavior punch card. At the end of everyday if you followed all rules and procedures you will receive a punch in your card. At the beginning of each month I will specify the amount of punches you need to receive areward. Everyone who receives the reward will also be entered into a drawing each month for a larger prize.
